SYNOPSIS
Deep in the slums of Bangkok, a roomful of kidnapped Asian and Indian children lay waiting to be trafficked by their Cambodian captors. Among them is a 6-year-old American boy, Nicolas Carter, who’s disappearance during a wealthy family’s vacation to Thailand has gotten world-wide media attention. One night, Nicolas boosts a 12-year-old Indian girl, Ratnanjali – the only child tall enough to reach the opening in the boarded up windows – to safety. He gives her a secret message. During a chase from her captors, Ratnanjali navigates the Chayo Praya River and its surrounding slums to Detective LAWAN specializing in human trafficking, he needs Ratnanjali’s help in locating the criminals, but he quickly learns that she is the link to Nicolas, making her the biggest break of his career.
Nicolas’ parents – Edward and Naomi have spent weeks undergoing exhaustive and expensive searches of illegal adoption agencies, criminal networks, and the dark web trying to locate their only son. They’ve even enlisted the help of a Mai and Chris, experts on human trafficking that bridge the gaps between foreign governments in international cases.
When Mai notifies Edward and Naomi that a survivor has identified Nicolas i n captivity, they race back to Thailand. Upon meeting with the police, Ratnanjali gives Nicolas’ inhaler to Naomi, who quickly opens it and uncovers the clue inside a unique sketch. When asked what the sketch means, Ratnanjali says that Nicolas called it his angels.
